ABOUT
Reclaiming Streets is a practice-based learning program that has been running since 2022. It aims to create livable, pedestrian- and child-friendly streets through interim and final street transformation implementations. It enhances municipal capacities through educational and workshop activities, and uses a phased design approach to make participation, budgeting, and implementation processes more effective.
Project stakeholders are Marmara Municipalities Union, Global Designing Cities Initiative and Superpool.
OUR APPROACH
When designing the visual identity for the project, we sought to align it with the overarching theme of “transforming/reclaiming”.
For the bilingual logo in Turkish and English, we emphasized the transformation of words into one another and letters into shapes. We defined custom glyphs to the typeface, inspired by elements observed in urban street applications. These shapes not only added a unique visual touch but also reflected the core values of the project.
This approach was extended to all titles within the identity system. Additionally, we prepared some materials like presentation template, brochure, name tag, ensuring impactful representation of the project.
